    Key Responsibilities
    • A. Contract and Documentation Management
    • 1.Draft, review, and vet standard legal documents, including loan agreements, security documents.
      (e.g., mortgages, debentures, guarantees), and standard operational contracts.
    • 2.Ensure all loan agreements and credit policies are legally sound and protect the institution’s
      interests.
    • 3.Maintain and update the MFI’s register of legal documents, contracts, and case files, ensuring
      proper indexing and security.
    • B. Regulatory Compliance and Advisory
    • 1.Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the microfinance sector and report potential
      impacts.
    • 2.Provide timely and accurate legal advice to various departments (e.g., Operations, Credit, HR) on day-to-day legal issues.
    • C. Litigation and Debt Recovery
    • 1.Prepare and file court documents, demand letters, and other legal instruments for the recovery
      of outstanding debts from defaulting clients.
    • 2.Represent the MFI in court proceedings, tribunals, and negotiations, or coordinate with external
      counsel for litigation matters.
    • 3.Provide legal guidance to the collections and recovery teams on asset seizures, foreclosure, and
      other enforcement actions, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
    • D. Policy and Training
    • 1.Assist in the development and review of internal policies, procedures, and legal frameworks to
      ensure operational compliance.
    • 2.Conduct internal legal research on a variety of issues.
    Requirements for Experiences and Qualifications
    • Education – Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is mandatory. Must be licensed to practice law in Myanmar.
    • Experience – Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a legal officer or corporate lawyer, preferably in the microfinance, banking, or financial services sector.
    • Knowledge – Strong understanding of financial and banking laws, microfinance regulations, contract law, and debt recovery procedures.
    • Skills & Competencies –
    • Excellent legal research, drafting, and documentation skills. Proven negotiation and litigation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
